Job Specification

Overview of the Department/Section

Structuring and execution of large cap non-investment grade transactions for both private equity and corporate clients as well as event-driven investment grade transactions for major corporate clients.

Main Purpose of the Role 

As a member of the Leveraged Finance Portfolio team, monitor and manage the Leveraged Finance loan portfolio, building relationships with borrowers and executing refinancing and other credit delivery within the portfolio as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage a selection of non-investment grade exposures within the Leveraged Finance business
  • Monitor the credit quality of the portfolio and assist in preparing reports for the Head of Portfolio & Asset Management and the Credit department each month and quarter to ensure all stakeholders are aware of developments in the portfolio in terms of exposure, credit quality and account planning
  • Ensure that time is allocated between the various portfolio names allocated in consultation with the Head of Portfolio & Asset Management such that risks are appropriately covered
  • Raise, draft and process waiver and consent requests from portfolio borrowers in collaboration with more senior team members
  • Monitor financial and other data produced by borrowers in the portfolio to ensure early identification of underperformance, raising issues to more senior team members as necessary, ensuring relevant data is input correctly into the system
  • Keep up to date with developments in portfolio names falling under your responsibility as well as developments in markets relevant to the borrower
  • Conduct research from a range of general and specialist sources, extracting relevant information and summarising data to inform decision making at more senior levels

Work Experience

Essential:

  • Experience working within a banking/advisory or transactional environment
  • Proven analytical ability: experience of conducting credit analysis and financial analysis

Preferred:

  • Experience of working in the European leveraged finance market, ideally in a Portfolio function
  • Sound understanding of banking products


Skills and Experience


Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential

  • Strong credit analysis skills
  • Demonstrable negotiation skills with internal partners and external clients
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with senior management, clients and other lenders, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to operate independently, representing the team and the bank internally and externally

Preferred:

  • Understanding and practical experience of non-investment grade cash flow modelling in Excel
  • Experience of using PowerPoint to create pitch books
  • Experience of client interaction and client management

Education / Qualifications:

Essential

  • Degree level

Preferred:

  • Relevant post degree qualification preferred (e.g. CFA or ACA)
